I am beyond proud to support the Mercer Island Band program. I cannot overstate how important band was to my 3 boys. Music is so vital to brain and personal development, and is a core component of our family. We knew the MI band program was good when we moved to the school district, but it far exceeded every expectation.
So many exceptional things about the program:
same teachers and curriculum from 5th -12th grade. The band teachers pretty much know our kids as well as we do by the time they graduate
the directors are amazing role models for life and character
student leadership opportunities help our kids develop their skills and personalities
amazing opportunities for cultural growth and empathy development
cultivate an appreciation for music that lasts a lifetime
