"For 8 years, Band was my home in the school district. Under the guidance of its wonderful instructors, I was fortunate to learn invaluable lessons that transcended music, including responsibility, perseverance, and leadership. The program’s staff are some of the most compassionate staff in the district—years later, I still remember my first interaction with Mr. Thompson: him offering me a slice of pizza when I fell ill at band camp. In the theater world, people often say “skills for theater, skills for life.” But the same is true for Band: skills for Band are invaluable for all. Band is an asset to the community. The district would be wise to provide it with the resources to teach every student skills for life."
